3 Reasons You Should Watch Out For BLACKPINK
Ever since they first debuted 22 months ago, BLACKPINK is finally releasing their first mini-album on June 15, 2018! In the meantime, let’s celebrate all the reasons why they’re a force to be reckoned with in the industry.
1. They’re slaying YouTube
Although they’ve only made comebacks 3 times in the past 22 months (a testament as to how ‘new’ they really are), two of their songs ‘Boombayah’ and ‘As If It’s Your Last’ were in the top 5 of fastest songs to garner over 300M views on YouTube, making them the holder of the most songs to achieve this among all K-Pop Groups, male and female
2. The Fastest K-Pop Girl Group to Get the No. 1 Title in Music Show
Just 13 days after they debuted, BLACKPINK won first place on Inkigayo, a renowned and trusted music show in the nation. They broke the record for the shortest time for a girl group to win on a music program after debuting. The original record holder was MISS A (21 days after debut).
3- Maintained, and Ranked Up Their Status Among all K-Pop Girl Groups
How do you decide whether a K-Pop Girl group is successful or not? The general indexes are based on music streamed, YouTube views, and album copy sales. BLACKPINK scored A+ in the areas of music streamed and YouTube views. But there is still a question mark in the ‘album copy sales’ sector. For the Hanteo album sales chart, only TWICE managed to achieve over 100K sales in the first week, while RED VELVET came second, garnering about 30-50K. It only gets more exciting to anticipate the result of BLACKPINK when they drop their album, because this can determine their real place as a K-Pop Girl Group in the industry.
Do you think they will rise up to the challenge? Will their album sales make or break them? Will they slay the charts and music streaming all over again? Tell us what you think.
